Around Mont Viso, a rising passion

sport – nature – voyage

[Carla]

I lived in Paris for 16 years, from the age of 10 to 26. So you could say I’m a city girl? Well, I’ve always been drawn to nature. This need to go there, regularly.

Perhaps it was my way of recharging my batteries. But for what?

I have to say that it was my father who first passed on to me his sense of adventure and his love of nature.

I have these memories of us taking the car on every holiday, backpack and comforters in the trunk, to discover new corners of the world.

to discover new corners of France. IGN map in hand, we’d choose a region to explore. It was an adventure, a gateway to freedom.

This year, it’s a summit he’s helped me discover. A summit he fell in love with at the age of 65, and which he almost climbed alone

in total autonomy (to within 200m): Mont Viso, towering at 3,841m the Southern Italian Alps.

Well, all I can say is that this discovery marked the beginning of a great love affair between me and the mountains.

In fact, I’ve been back ever since. But that’s another story.
